Christian Education (Adult Education - Diakonia) The diakonia Program is an intensive two-year commitment to grow as Christans disciples by gaining knowledge, increasing skills and deepening your life of faith. The program has two primary goals: 1) to help equip God's people for service in parish and neighborhood ministries and 2) to promote the commitment to lifelong growth in faith and discipleship. This process occurs in three basic ways: By participating in six, five-week courses per year (twelve courses over two years) where study of the Bible, church history, the teachings of the faith, and practical ministry skills occurs; By students identifying particular skills and aptitudes in ministry and encouraging the use of these gifts in the local parish and neighborhood; By providing spiritual growth through worship, retreats, and a community of fellow students, mentors, and instructors.
The diakonia Program has received the verbal endorsement of Bishop Roy Almquist of the SE Pennsylvania Synod and in the process of finalizing our formal endorsement as a lay training & leadership program of the Synod.
