St. Paul’s Confirmation Ministry
At St. Paul's our Confirmation program is a time and place to learn about God, ourselves, and our relationship with God in Jesus Christ. It is a time of study, questions, fellowship, service, and fun. Our Confirmation program is a ministry of our congregation currently offered to families with children in 7th, 8th, and 9th grades.
During the 2016-17 school year, however, we are beginning the move” toward a two year-program for 7th and 8th graders.
- 7th & 8th Graders will meet on Sunday evenings from 6:15 to 8:00 pm (calendar attached). We will be using the “Confirmed Not Conformed” curriculum this year. Pastor Mark will teach, with Marty Schmidt, Lisa Diewald, and Pat Burke serving as substitute teachers. As with last year, there will be four parent inservice Days throughout the year led by Allison Wilcox. 7th and 8th graders will also spend time with their guides in small groups for fellowship and discussion of the lessons.
- 9th graders will follow a separate curriculum – Manna & Mercy, to complete their scripture segment of the programming. They will meet on Sunday mornings during the Sunday School hour from September 11th through October 23rd and be confirmed on Reformation Sunday, October 30th of this year. Allison Wilcox will teach, with 9th grade guides, Pat Tilghman and Linda Sinclair assisting.
St. Paul's is a "safe church". This means that all people who work with children on a regular basis (guides, teachers) have had a background check. This also means that no one adult can be in a room by themselves with children, so parents are required to attend 1 or 2 small groups for the safety of the children. Our goal is to teach the good news of God's love in Jesus and build up the body of Christ, empowering youth with their gifts to live a life faithful to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in service to the world and Church.
