About The Event
Once again your Social Ministry Committee will be collecting Thanksgiving food baskets for those in need in and around the Care Center Foundation in West Chester. These are the families of the children who attend the pre-school as well as other families in that neighborhood. Because the need is so great, this year our goal is to buy 100 turkeys and fill 100 baskets.
Here's what goes into a complete family dinner box:
2 cans green beans
2 cans corn
2 boxes mac and cheese
1 box mashed potatoes (13.5 oz.)
2 jars turkey gravy
2 boxes stuffing
1 jar applesauce (large)
2 cans cranberry sauce
1 cake mix
1 can cake frosting
(This list can be found as a small handout in the narthex at the Thanksgiving Food Drive table.)
Your box can be dropped off at the church in the air-lock area from Oct. 16 through Nov. 13, Monday-Friday
after 1 PM (so as not to conflict with pre-school), or anytime on the weekend. Ideally, food should arrive
packed in a copy paper type box as this allows us to better stack, but any size will do. Also, if you have any
leftover Halloween candy you’d like to donate, please slip that in your box. We will also be accepting cash donations for turkeys. You can make a check out to St. Paul's with "turkey donation” in the notes and mail to the church.
Or, if you want to help with filling a food basket but don’t want to do the shopping, there are shoppers available
to do that for you. $25 will cover the cost for a full dinner box. Please put your check in an envelope marked
“Food Box Donation” and mail to the church or drop in the offering plate. No need to sign up on-line for check
donations. Thank you for helping to support this worthwhile effort.
