Parenting with Hope:
Life Skills and Prevention

Starting Sunday, September 14, 2025 at 9:15 am
And Running for the Next Five Weeks

St. Paul's is very excited to be offering a unique six week parenting opportunity, “Parenting with Hope: Life Skills and Prevention!” Chester County is very blessed to have wonderful leaders and a few of them will be offering a series of six parenting classes during the Sunday School hour, 9:15-10:15 am starting Sunday, September 14, 2025. (If your child is not yet registered to attend Sunday School, you can do so here.)

The leader for the first four weeks will be Professor Donald McCown (PhD, MAMS, MSS & LSW) who teaches at West Chester University. He has developed a wonderful resource through a state grant, Learning Life Skills Together. When a young person gets in trouble, there are basic life skills that are often taught to help guide them back to the right path. However, this curriculum was developed to share these skills before problems manifest to help prevent them from being in this situation. Best of all, the curriculum is designed to help parents share these skills with their child. (You likely have learned them already in life, but not thought about how to communicate them to your children.)
The following two weeks of the parenting class will be taught by another great leader in our community and also a member of St. Paul’s, Kathy Collier (BA and MSEd). Kathy is the Prevention Program Director for the Chester County Department of Drug Alcohol services. We are all familiar with the need to keep children away from drugs and alcohol, but Kathy brings a wealth of techniques, resources and information that will be helpful to all parents.

We will also be providing nursery care for children younger than Sunday School age, so please register here to let us know you are coming and so we have the proper space, resources and childcare available.
